In accordance with the Federal Decree – Law No. (8) of 2017 on Value Added Tax (VAT), goods and services supplied in the UAE will be subject to VAT at standard rate of 5{a39208088dfbb3f6be7975aa9dc7361ccbf13849a8101c944fd19b6e25c2b524} with effect from 1st of January 2018.

Dubai Ladies Club will comply with this government mandate and from 1st January 2018 onwards, all our goods and services provided by the Club will incur the 5{a39208088dfbb3f6be7975aa9dc7361ccbf13849a8101c944fd19b6e25c2b524} VAT.

What is VAT?

Value Added Tax or VAT is an indirect tax that has been introduced by the UAE Government. It is a type of general consumption tax. In a country which has a VAT, it is imposed on most supplies of goods and services that are bought and sold. Ultimate consumers bear the VAT cost while businesses collect and account for the tax, in a way acting as a tax collector on behalf of the government.

When will the VAT go into effect and what will be the rates?

VAT will be introduced across the UAE on 1st January 2018 at a standard rate of 5{a39208088dfbb3f6be7975aa9dc7361ccbf13849a8101c944fd19b6e25c2b524}.

Why is Dubai Ladies Club charging VAT?

Dubai Ladies Club, as a service provider, is legally obliged to comply with this government mandate from 1st January 2018 onwards.

How will VAT apply to Dubai Ladies Club goods and services?

All goods and services provided by Dubai Ladies Club will be subject to 5{a39208088dfbb3f6be7975aa9dc7361ccbf13849a8101c944fd19b6e25c2b524} VAT with effect from 1st January 2018. This will be applicable to any purchases made from 1st January 2018 onwards by existing and new members; as well as Club visitors.

Will VAT cover all DUBAI LADIES CLUB products & services?

All products and services provided by Dubai Ladies Club will be subject to VAT, including but not limited to the following:

  • All types of memberships (new, renewal and upgrade)
  • Personal Training (PT)
  • Daily entrance fee
  • Gym access
  • All paid fitness classes
  • Recreational activities
  • All spa services, products and gift vouchers
  • Event bookings and all event-related services
  • Marketing services  
  • All other paid goods and services

What if I purchased a membership or a package before 1st January 2018?

Any membership or package (such as PT or spa) purchased prior to 1st January 2018 and not fully utilized will be subject to VAT on the unutilized portion. However, Dubai ladies club will bear this as a business cost for any contracts purchased before 1st January 2018.

Will individuals be able to recover VAT?

Individuals will not be able to recover any VAT, and will have to bear this as a cost.

How will VAT affect corporate memberships?

All services provided by Dubai Ladies Club are subject to VAT from 1st January 2018. Corporate memberships will be applicable for VAT through the company who pays the membership and not the individual.

For other corporate accounts where the member is on a corporate rate, the individual is required to pay VAT at 5{a39208088dfbb3f6be7975aa9dc7361ccbf13849a8101c944fd19b6e25c2b524} of the membership rate they are receiving.

Will advertised prices include VAT?

Starting from 1st January 2018, all prices advertised or communicated by Dubai Ladies Club will be inclusive of VAT. For example, if the advertised price is AED 100, you will only have to pay AED 100.
