Dubai, October 19, 2023: Dubai Ladies Club celebrated 30 women who are cancer survivors during the “Cancer Survivors Gathering,” which was organised in cooperation with Al Jalila Foundation under the slogan “Stronger Together,” bringing together cancer survivors and members of Majlis Al Amal, Hope Lounge in Arabic, a unique ‘cancer drop-in centre’ and the first of its kind community centre dedicated to female cancer patients and their wellbeing. It included a complete program of activities—awareness, fitness and entertainment. This event reflects Dubai Ladies Club’s commitment to support, empower, and motivate women in various aspects of life.

The gathering was attended by Sabra Thani, Director of the Corporate Communication Department of Dubai Women Establishment and Lamya Gabr, Manager of the Majlis Al Amal by Al Jalila Foundation, media professionals and social influencers. The gathering featured an inspiring session on “Emotional Intelligence and its Impact on Mental Health,” led by motivational speaker Rawan Haj. She highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence in achieving happiness, maintaining emotional balance, and using our emotions to fuel our goals and interactions with others. Practical exercises were shared to enhance emotional intelligence for daily life.

Attendees also enjoyed a leisurely day at Dubai Ladies Club facilities, including the gym, swimming pools, sports fields, and the exclusive beach, a unique space dedicated to women in Dubai. They were introduced to the Club’s “October Hues” activities, tailored for female members and visitors throughout the month.

As part of its encouragement for women to follow an active and lively lifestyle, the Dubai Club provided attendees with an exclusive membership offer under the name “Annual Pink Membership,” designed for two people, one of whom is a cancer survivor. This is a testament to Dubai Ladies Clubs’ commitment to promoting well-being and unity among women.

Dubai, October 23, 2023: In an extraordinary display of athleticism and determination, Dubai Ladies Club organised and hosted in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, the sixth edition of the Dubai Women’s Triathlon on Sunday, October 22, 2023. The event brought over 300 women and girls from diverse backgrounds and nationalities who competed in three sports: swimming, cycling, and running – in three categories: Super Sprint, Sprint and Olympic distance.

Honouring the Partners and Winners

The success of this remarkable event could not have been achieved without the unwavering support of strategic partners: Dubai Police, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Al Jalila Foundation, Honor and Aquafina.

The Dubai Police provided a dedicated convoy of women officers who worked tirelessly to secure and manage the race routes from dawn to dusk. Meanwhile, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority meticulously planned and designated the race courses, weaving them through iconic locations like Jumeirah Road and the Dubai Water Canal. To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services stood on alert, offering a fully equipped medical team and state-of-the-art medical devices.

Following the triumphant conclusion of the race, Moaza Saeed Al Marri, Executive Director, Office of RTA Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, and chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Women Establishment presented prizes to the winners who excelled in the various categories of the Dubai Women’s Triathlon 2023. Moaza Al Marri also honoured the representatives of the strategic partners supporting the Dubai Women’s Triathlon. 

A grand ceremony at the Dubai Ladies Club marked the occasion, where the winners and strategic partners were honoured. This year’s event embodied the strength and resilience of women as they overcame physical challenges to cross the finish line. Naeema Ahli, Acting CEO of Dubai Women Establishment; Sabra Thani, Director of the Corporate Communications Department at the Dubai Women Establishment; Fawzia Faridoun, Director of Women’s Sports Development at Dubai Sports Council, and esteemed media representatives joined the ceremony to celebrate the strong-minded spirit of the participants and the remarkable collaborative efforts that made this event possible.

Women’s active participation in sports

Which indicates an increase in women’s awareness of the importance of sport.

Moaza Al Marri stressed on Dubai Women Establishment’s keenness, to launch and implement qualitative and inspiring sports initiatives through Dubai Ladies Club, for women in line with the club’s vision to be one of the leading clubs in the world dedicated to women only.

Moaza Al Marri thanked all the participants of the sixth edition of Dubai Women’s Triathlon, and said: “Each participant has achieved something remarkable – they’ve etched their unique legacy in this women-centric sports event, a testament to their unwavering competitiveness in participating in the Dubai Women’s Triathlon; which gains more enthusiasts with each passing year, securing a special place on Dubai’s annual sports calendar.”

Three-part competition

The women participating in the Dubai Women Triathlon can participate in one of three categories: Super Sprint, Sprint, or the accredited Olympic distance. In the Super Sprint category, they compete in a 400 m swim, a 10 km cycle, and a 2.5 km run. In the Sprint category, participants compete in a 750 m swim, a 20 km cycle, and a 5 km run. On the other hand, Participants in the accredited Olympic distance category compete in the 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle, and 10 km run.

In the Olympic distance race for the open individual category, Krisztina Vaczi won first place after finishing the entire race in 02:17:51 hours, followed by Dominika Fustos in second place with a time of 02:23:19 hours, and Simone Walter came in third place with a time of 02:23: 36 hours.

In the individual category for female Emirati’s, Asma Aljanahi won first place after finishing the race in 02:46:35 hours.

In the open team category, the Chicks with Kicks team won first place in 02:22:51 hours, followed by the Liana’s SBR team in second place with a time 03:32:28 hours, and the SBR SASSPOTS team came in third place with a time of 03:35:14 hours.

In the Open Individual Super Sprint race, Kahli Johnson won first place in 43:58 minutes, followed by Hazel Mackey in second place with a time of 45:25 minutes, and Margaux Bailly came in third place with a time of 45:53 minutes. In the female Emirati individual category, Nouf AlNoon won first place with a time of 01:01:01 hours.

And in the Super Sprint open category teams, the Roads and Transport Authority team won first place with a time of 44:00 minutes, followed by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services 2 team in second place with a time of 44:11 minutes, and the Dubai Ladies Club team came in third place with a time of 58:09 minutes.

In the super sprint national category teams, the Roads and Transport Authority team won first place with a time of 44:09 minutes, followed by the Airwerks racing team in second place with a time of 44:43 minutes, and the Dubai Police Team 3 came in third place with a time of 49:30 minutes.

In the Sprint individuals open category, Georgina Bishop won first place in 01:10:40 hours, followed by Aisha Nasser in second place with a time of 01:14:46 hours, and Kirsten Evans came in third place with a time of 01:14:46 hours.

And in the Sprint individual national category, Hana Alnabulsi won first place in 01:25:26 hours, followed by Kalthoum Almaazmi in second place with a time of 01:29:29 hours, and Tammy Alherais came in third place with a time of 01:44:24 hours.

In the Sprint open team category, the Road transportation Authority won first place in 01:11:24 hours, followed by the Inas’ team in second place with a time of 01:16:00 hours, and the Petra team came in third place with a time of 01:26:32 hours.

The Dubai Women’s Triathlon 2023 not only showcases athletic excellence but also serves as an inspiring testament to the power of collaboration, determination, and the unwavering spirit of women who continue to break barriers and inspire us all. Dubai, April 6, 2023: Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative announced the participation of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as a platinum sponsor for the eighth edition of “Designs of Hope”.  The charity exhibition is held from 5^th to 7^th April 2023 at Dubai Ladies Club. The proceeds will be allocated to Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), to support efforts for the integration of climate change issues in education into the global climate agenda to achieve global educational transformation that will benefit the whole of humanity.

Since its inception in 2013, the “Designs of Hope” exhibition has supported many humanitarian projects with a sustainable impact that constitute a milestone in the lives of its beneficiaries inside and outside the country – with a focus on empowering women and girls within their communities, in line with Emirati values that emphasize the importance of humanitarian and philanthropic actions that tackle pressing global issues.

The “Designs of Hope” exhibition is held at Dubai Ladies Club from 8:00 PM until 12:00 midnight during 5^th to 7^th April, and includes a variety of abayas, accessories and women’s clothing donated by Emirati designers, jewelers and fashion designers in the country. The exhibition is open to all women visitors.

Since its inception in 2013, many Emirati designers have participated in the exhibition, who contributed to support many humanitarian, health and educational issues. More than 18 Emirati designers, fashion and jewellery houses in the country are participating in the eighth edition this year, including: NAFS, Fiz Boutique, 199x20s, Bloom Design, Selma Benomar, Moza Collection, I AM MAI Design, BLANC 8.3, Pearlato, Jamila Alkrieshi, Mayyar, By Amal and Zahra Karmostaji, Harf W Nagsh, MAS, Sumaya Bakkar, Solla, and VALORA.

Throughout its history, the exhibition contributed to supporting many humanitarian causes through educational and health programs. The proceeds of its first edition in 2013 were allocated to the ‘Noor Al Hayat’ project to aid the prevention and treat patients suffering from sight ailments worldwide in cooperation with Noor Dubai Foundation. In 2014, it supported the ‘UAE Water Aid Initiative’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide 5 million people in developing countries with improved access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation. In 2015, it contributed to the ‘The UAE Initiative for Connection with Orphans and Minors’, which targeted an important segment of the Emirati society. In 2017 and 2018, the exhibition also supported the “teacHER” campaign to increase children’s access to quality education, especially supporting girls’ education globally.

The “Bookings 2030” campaign launched by Dubai Cares to provide educational opportunities for children and youth in need and help them achieve their professional aspirations in the future – also benefitted from Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative’s participation. Last year, the exhibition supported the eye health care program implemented by the Noor Dubai Foundation in Katsina State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative campaign is being implemented this year in partnership with Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), to support the integration of education into the global climate agenda, through transformed education systems that can drive progress for human development towards a prosperous and sustainable future for all, thereby consolidating the UAE’s position as a global beacon for development work and reinforcing its commitment to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

She added that her Highness is keen that these programs have a sustainable, significant and tangible impact in the lives of the beneficiaries, especially women and girls, as it significantly contributes to any country’s social, economic and political development process.

Designs of Hope

The Dubai Ladies Club will host the eighth edition of the “Designs of Hope” charity exhibition organized by Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative from 5 to 7 April 2023, with the participation of various Emirati designers, jewellers and fashion designers. The entire proceeds will be allocated to Dubai Cares and will go towards supporting the integration of climate change issues into educational curriculums and systems – which reflects the UAE’s values that emphasizes the importance of humanitarian work.

A history of charitable and philanthropic work

Since its launch in 2013, Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative has implemented many campaigns and programmes in various fields, such as health, education, food, and support for female workers. In 2013, the Initiative supported the prevention and treatment of 1 million patients suffering from sight ailments in various regions worldwide through the ‘Noor Al Hayat’ project. In 2014, it supported the ‘UAE Water Aid Initiative’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide 5 million people in developing countries with improved access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation. And in 2015, in response to ‘The UAE Initiative for Connection with Orphans and Minors’, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative launched the ‘Selah’ Art Programme to help the orphans and minors, which capitalised on the therapeutic effects of art to help orphans ‘connect’ to their creative spirits.

During the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative launched ‘ReacHer’, an initiative providing women with mental health support and consultation services, which aimed to support women across their familial, social, and economic roles amid the implications and repercussions of the pandemic. The ‘ReacHer’ initiative was implemented in partnership with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and several mental health practitioners, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists who provided consultations to women through various safe communication channels.

In 2022, Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative provided support for the eye health care program implemented by the Noor Dubai Foundation in Katsina State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which targeted 160,000 male and female students and 3,000 teachers in 194 primary schools in the state, by conducting periodic eye examinations and providing medical glasses for those who need them.

Dubai, October 4, 2023: In anticipation of the launch of the sixth edition of the Dubai Women’s Triathlon, the organising committee spearheading the pioneering women-only event in the region convened a coordination meeting at Dubai Ladies Club.

This gathering, attended by representatives from key government agencies, was dedicated to finalising the preparations and arrangements for the event’s imminent kick-off. Scheduled for Sunday, October 22, this distinguished race, a collaborative effort by the Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Ladies Club, encompasses three invigorating sports: swimming, cycling, and running.

The triathlon is open to women of all nationalities above the age of 15, and they can participate individually or collectively by forming teams. Registration is available through Dubai Sports Council’s official website until October 15.

The meeting assessed the collaborative efforts of key government agencies, such as Dubai Police, RTA, and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services. They discussed race route organisation and road closures for cycling and running in Jumeirah street and Dubai Water Canal areas, aligning with the event’s schedule.

Leading by example

Naeema Ahli, Acting CEO of Dubai Women Establishment, applauded Dubai Ladies Club for hosting the Dubai Women Triathlon for six consecutive years in partnership with Dubai Sports Council. She highlighted its alignment with the leadership’s vision to empower women in sports, emphasising the commitment to foster their local and international participation.

Naeema Ahli stated: “Dubai Women’s Triathlon embodies the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to enhance women’s meaningful engagement in sports in the UAE and the World. And over five editions, it has become a highly anticipated annual sporting event, drawing keen interest from female athletes and enthusiasts alike.”

She also commended the invaluable contributions of government partners, highlighting their pivotal role in ensuring the annual event’s success and their dedication to upholding Dubai’s reputation as a top-ranking host for sporting events.

Ali Omar Alblooshi, Director of Sports Development at Dubai Sports Council, spoke passionately about the Dubai Women’s Triathlon, highlighting its significance as a premier event dedicated to women on the council’s annual calendar. He emphasised its role in inspiring women to embrace sports, fostering competition, and showcasing the pivotal role of women in sports.

He said: “Reflecting on the past five years, the Dubai Women’s Triathlon has enjoyed remarkable success. This achievement was a collective effort, with strong support from dedicated partners who prioritised the safety and security of the participants. I am confident that the triathlon will achieve even greater success this year.”

The tournament reflects the efforts made to develop women’s sports and highlight the role of women in sports. Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Ladies Club are keen to provide a unique and distinguished experience for participants through the organization of vital sporting events.

Unified efforts

The partner government agencies’ collaborative efforts seamlessly integrate before, during, and after the event. Dubai Police ensures a dedicated convoy for bicycle race security along Jumeirah Road. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) handles road occupation logistics, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services deploys equipped vehicles and a female lifeguard team to oversee the participants from Dubai Ladies Club’s beach to Jumeirah Beach road’s cycling route.

Three-part competition

The women participating in the Dubai Women Triathlon can participate in one of three categories: Super Sprint, Sprint, or the accredited Olympic distance. In the Super Sprint category, they will compete in a 400m swim, a 10km cycle, and a 2.5km run. In the Sprint category, participants will compete in a 750m swim, a 20km cycle, and a 5km run. On the other hand, Participants in the accredited Olympic distance category will swim 1.5 km, cycle 40km, and run 10km.
